Development Communication Specialist
Ruth is a Development Communication Specialist with a multidisciplinary and multisector background spanning broadcast media, financial services and the development sector.
She has professional experience in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and programme coordination. She uses media tools, platforms and infrastructure to engage and drive conversations around social issues affecting everyday lives in our community and the world at large. She leads conversations covering themes such as governance, inclusion of disadvantaged groups such as vulnerable women and girls, education, children’s rights, technology, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and many other critical social themes.
She has worked successfully in the financial services sector, where she gained valuable experience in client relationship management, including small, medium and large-scale business support. She also has a background in traditional media, where she developed a strong ability to facilitate meaningful conversations, simplify complex issues, and connect with diverse audiences on television.
At AHDI, Ruth supports the design and implementation of development communication initiatives, coordinates stakeholder engagements, conducts policy and programme research, and leads conversations with policymakers, development partners, humanitarian leaders and social impact champions. Her work focuses on leveraging media skills to amplify development issues and promote sustainable social change.
She is passionate about youth empowerment, women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, skills development, and inclusive development, and she is committed to using communication as a tool for advocacy, knowledge sharing, and creating measurable social impact.
