OUR CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
- Our activities involve children hence the need to ensure that their fundamental rights of adequate protection at all times is active and ensured. As an organization, we recognize that we have a fundamental duty of care towards all children where our programmes and operations facilitate contact with children, or have an impact on children
- We comply with all applicable national and global regulations including adherence to Article 19 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) 1989 of which Nigeria is a signatory and has adopted in 2003
- We define a child as anyone who has not reached their 18th birthday (UNCRC 1989) irrespective of the age of majority in Nigeria
- Our organization exists to fulfil a special institutional role in the society as protectors of children
- Be informed that CCTV surveillance cameras are installed in our premises to enable us monitor every activity including operations that involves children
- Our staff have ethical obligation to identify children who are in need of help and protection and to take steps to ensure that the child and family avail themselves of the services needed to remedy any situation that constitutes child abuse or neglect
- Our organization has ethical obligation to report suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect whenever we have reasonable cause to believe that a child has suffered or is at significant risk of suffering abuse or neglect. Reporting and follow up of all suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect will proceed in accordance with our administrative regulations and procedures
- Cases of suspected child abuse or neglect may be reported to the to the appropriate child protection agency.
