Stay in School Initiative (SSI)
Every child has a right to good and quality education
HOW IT WORKS
We are committed to ensuring children remain and succeed in school through our initiatives
Quality Basic Education for All
Background & Overview
Research by UNICEF shows that Ngeria still has 10.5 million out-of-school children – the world’s highest number. Sixty per cent of those children are in northern Nigeria.
About 60 per cent of out-of-school children are girls. Many of those who do enroll drop out early. Low perceptions of the value of education for girls and early marriages are among the reasons. Some northern states have laws requiring education of girls and prohibiting their withdrawal from school. Girls’ primary school attendance has been improving, but this has not been the case for girls from the poorest households.
We do this by providing financial support in form of grants to fund school fees, uniforms and books
Qualification Criteria
We are looking to fund 10 kids across public schools for the 2018/2019 session. To qualify, public schools must provide evidence to corroborate claims by submissions on the behalf of kids. These kids must be high performing students who have challenges paying school fees, purchasing books and/or uniforms.
Our Target Beneficiaries
Public schools with primary school kids with in-need evidence around Abuja municipality can apply for this funding opportunity.
What the Grant Covers
School fees, uniforms, and/or books (writing and reading materials)
