Humanitarian Programmes

Implementing innovative solutions to humanitarian crises.

OUR FOCUS

Supporting the improvement and effectiveness of humanitarian response by ensuring greater predictability, accountability and partnership.

We support the establishment of rights for marginalised communities to access land, water, forests, and basic government services, and want to see local and national institutions be more accountable in their decision making.

By assessing situations and needs; agreeing common priorities; developing common strategies to address issues such as negotiating access, mobilizing funding and other resources; clarifying consistent public messaging; and monitoring progress.

OUR APPROACH

Innovating sotions to humanitarian crises

We work on…
Inclusion – We are working to end caste-based discrimination, discrimination against indigenous communities and discrimination against women.

Resilient livelihoods – Our work on resilient livelihoods includes climate change adaptation, disaster risk management, emergency response and inclusive market development projects.

Humanitarian response – AHDI and its partners have made significant strides in constructing shelters and safe places using traditional and available materials. Downward accountability – being accountable to the communities and people we aim to help – is at the heart of our work.
Governance – Our expertise and experience includes working with partner organisations to make governments accountable, ensuring access to rights and strengthening citizens’ participation.
Climate change and disaster risk reduction – AHDI focuses on strengthening the resilience of communities in disaster risk reduction and in delivering emergency food security and supporting communities to rebuild their livelihoods.
Making markets work for the poor – We play a key role in engaging poor and marginalised people and communities with markets by facilitating relationships between producers and consumers. .
